Racial Harmony

“Racial Harmony”
By: Frank Cormier

When we are speaking of light,
Nature has harmony right on track.
Where the presence of all color is white,
And the absence of color black.

One condition cannot exist without the other,
For this would throw the system out of balance.
Yin and Yang, good and bad, father and mother,
All depend on mutual influence.

Does this fact apply to racial harmony,
And humankind?
Not knowing the answer is part of the irony,
However, I am willing to consider all solutions with an open mind.

There is no simple answer in any book,
Yet my heart is filled with contrition.
I have done nothing wrong to deserve a dirty look,
Except to have been born with a certain condition.

Will racial harmony ever be achieved,
By any nation, world, or civilization?
History is full of examples of races deceived,
Many of whom acted with such conviction.

Huh?

“Huh?”

By: Frank Cormier

Non-verbal cues started the ball rolling,

Vocal utterances begat language,

Once combined; music becomes the new form.

Symbols on walls express a common meaning,

Soon the written word appears on a page,

A dark period occurs; books now burn.

From smoldering ashes shines a new light,

Radical thinkers step forward and charge,

The enlightenment starts a revolution.

Radio waves crackle through voids of night,

Sound blends with video, the Web is large,

Focusing the beam of communication.

Yet differences still exist today,

Not understanding what each has to say.
